Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) in Ealing & London

Compassion Focussed Therapy is a talking therapy. It’s primary aim is to help individuals who experience high levels of self-criticism, shame and self-judgement to experience compassion and develop different aspects of compassion for the self and others.

What can CFT help with?

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Shame
  • Low self-esteem
  • Depression
  • Anger

What happens during private CFT sessions?

If CFT is recommended, you will usually have a session with a therapist once a week or once every two weeks. The course of treatment will usually last between 6 and 20 sessions, with each session lasting 50 minutes.

During the sessions, you will work with your therapist to understand your challenges compassionately, learn about the way the human brain has evolved, enhance your emotional regulation by strengthening your self-soothing system and practice compassionate mindfulness and self-compassion.

Is CFT effective?

Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) has promising outcomes for increasing self-compassion and reducing clinical mental health symptoms.

Your treatment plan will always be tailored to fit your lifestyle and needs. Not only do we pride ourselves on being an evidence-based practice, whereby we only use treatments that are proven to work, we also endeavour to be a practice-based practice: We will invite continuous feedback to ensure we are delivering the most effective intervention that has the greatest benefits for you.

At Elite Psychology we try to accommodate people’s needs and can provide therapy via different modes such as online compassion focussed therapy, or CFT by telephone.
